MEP Luxembourg’s present MEP session will take place from 14th to 16th May 2018 at the Forum, at Lycée Aline Mayrisch, and at Bâtiment Robert Schuman. About 90 delegates from all over Luxembourg participate in the MEP which is a simulation of the working of the European parliament for students. The event will be organised by Lycée Aline Mayrisch Luxembourg. The six other schools participating will be Lycée Technique d’Ettelbruck, Lycée Technique de Lallange, European School Mamer, Athénée de Luxembourg, Lycée classique de Diekirch, and Lycée Classique d’Echternach.
The students, under the guidance of a Committee President and a co-Committee President, deliberate on 5 topics and discuss the resolutions in a General Assembly – and all of this in English which creates an exciting challenge for the 16- to 18-year-olds. This year is the fourth time MEP is held in Luxembourg and the organisation is being strengthened by including more schools and giving more young people the opportunity to participate.
This programme is also supported by the Luxembourg Members of the European Parliament, who are looking to interact with the young people. Madame Mady Delvaux-Stehres and Monsieur Charles Goerens will address the young people on Monday morning at the opening ceremony, and our Prime Minister Xavier Bettel will honor them with his presence at the closing ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.
